WHY STEERING WHEEL POSITION MATTERS

The AutoSolo Steering Wheel Level Alignment Tool is a centering device that holds a magnetic torpedo level against the steering wheel face so the mechanic can confirm the wheel is straight before locking in front-end alignment settings. Steering wheel position is the final step in a wheel alignment: if the wheel is off-center when the vehicle drives straight, the toe and caster readings must be rechecked because the wheel was not in its true neutral position during measurement. The tool uses self-centering spring-loaded arms that adjust from 8 to 15 inches to fit most passenger car, truck, and SUV steering wheels. The 100% silicone contact pins protect the wheel surface during use. The frame is constructed from aluminum and stainless steel for durability in garage environments. A magnetic adapter is included for mechanics who prefer to swap in a separate digital level for vehicles with tighter OEM tolerance requirements.

Good for modern steering wheels

This is a simple bit of kit but that also makes it easy to use, and easy to recommend. The two red ends are spring-loaded to keep them pushed out towards the outside - so you squeeze them towards the center while inserting the tool in the steering wheel, lining it up so it's level across the wheel itself. Once it's in you can pop the included bubble level on - it snaps on with magnets and there are multiple magnetic strips in the body of the tool for it to grab onto. Now you can actually set the steering wheel to level before continuing with the rest of your alignment job, and the bubble level removes most "is it really level" guessing.

The only concern I would have would be vintage vehicles with much larger diameter steering wheels - this tool is clearly sized for modern steering wheels, but given that steering wheels have been on the smaller side for the better part of 50 years, I can't say I fault them.

Simple tool that's easy to use

This is a perfect way to get that steering wheel aligned properly. When you are doing an alignment on your vehicle at home, keeping the steering wheel level when the work is done is an overlooked aspect of the job. This tool makes the task simple and ensures you'll be riding straight down the road and getting the most out of your tires.Until We Meet Again-Off The Grid Ken

It's decent

I've used alignment plates in the past to at least get things pretty close to hold me over until getting a proper alignment done. Adding this to the set really made my last alignment easier. Without this, you have to guess where dead center is on the wheel. With this, it's a lot easier to get the steering wheel perfectly centered. It won't lock the wheel, so you should check it after every adjustment to make sure it's still centered. The big downfall of this is how the level attaches to the bar. There doesn't quite seem to be a position where the level is really nicely supported, so it feels like it may fall off, or might not be giving a perfect reading. The red pegs that grip the steering wheel have a nice rubber coating to avoid marking a steering wheel, and are spring loaded to stay firmly attached to the wheel.Overall I like it, and feels like a relatively decent value. The main issue is just the level not securing very well.

Can't beat what you get for the price!

I have a front wheel alignment kit that connects to the front wheel rotors, allowing me to align the front wheels with accuracy using tape measures. The reason I bring that up is, this steering wheel level alignment tool is the perfect companion to have with your front wheel alignment kit.Obviously the first thing you want to do before aligning your front wheels is making sure you're steering wheel is center-calibrated properly, and this steering wheel alignment kit makes that job very easy. The spring loaded mechanism keeps the torpedo bar properly in place. Once that's in place, you simply install the magnetic level, which then tells you when your steering wheel is level. So basically in other words, this is a very simple alignment tool to use. All of the parts seem to be decent quality as well.

No Guessing

This steering wheel level tool made car alignment a lot easier, takes the guesswork out. I was a little worried it would be wobbly or cheap, but it's actually made well and feels solid. It clamps onto the steering wheel firmly and doesn't slip or shift during the job. The bubble level is easy to read and well-positioned. It's great tool to add to your kit for someone who likes working on their own car. Good value function as expected.

Get your wheel straight

Makes doing alignments and setting the wheels straight a breeze. I do want to note that the magnet on the level is a bit weak, so it likes to fall off while I'm setting up sometimes. Maybe they need to put a stronger magnet on it. But overall, it's a great tool to have. It fits all steering wheels pretty easily and gets the job done.

Works good

This steering wheel level alignment tool is pretty good. It locks to the steering wheel well. The magnet strength could be stronger though. The accuracy of the level seems to be very good. It functions as it should and is fairly easy to use. The price seems to maybe a little high for what it is, but to ensure that your steering wheel is level it's not a bad price.

Near flawless, level magnet could be better

Used this during an at-home alignment on a project car, on a go kart and my daily driver. The clamp functions really well to hold to the wheel without slipping. The level is easy to read even in low garage light, however it is beveled and the nature of the magnet design makes it a bit less secure than I would find ideal. Adjusting toe with this on makes tracking changes obvious. Spring tension on the clamp feels about right, holds without marking softer wheels, albeit it may be a bit abrasive to something like a delicate alcantara wheel, so some caution or precaution may be needed. It is a simple tool but speeds up alignment work if you’re fussy about keeping the wheel straight. Great value, compared to going to a shop, the value is out of this world!

As simple as it gets.

It really is easy to use. it is spring loaded with a lock nut that ill likely not use often. the spring is plenty strong to keep it in place. Takes the guesswork out of alignments at a fraction of the cost of the OEM company.

Works decent for what you want it to

Works, but requires too much effort to install on steering wheel

PROS: Strong springs to hold bar against steering wheel, coated extensions to prevent damage to steering wheel, relatively strong magnet to attach level unit to bar, measurement scale on level unit.CONS: Angled mounting area for level unit makes the level unit less stable, painted surfaces of the level unit has regions of poor surface preparation, the hand holds are too small versus the spring strength. This item functions as described. Was disappointed by the low build quality of the level unit. The bigger problem with this item is the difficulty with moving the extended arms inward to place on the steering wheel. There are two strong springs (good for the function) in the arm and the hand holds are too short to easily compress the springs inward. The hand holds should be the same length as the extended arms and have a larger diameter.

A Wheel Alignment Must Have

This is a handy tool to get your steering wheel centered just right during an alignment. I'm a novice mechanic. At first, I found its use a bit confusing, but the instructions helped a lot. I had my steering wheel centered in just the right spot in no time. I found this tool to be of good quality. It's functional, well-made, and I like it. I expect I'll get better at mastering its use over time.

works, but...

i am an ase certified master mechanic and i didnt even know these existed until i had an idea. well, it turns out someone else has done it, lol. overall the function is good, but the magnetic connection is a little too weak for my liking. i have used it about 5x since buying it and dropped the level about 10x because the magnet is just a little too weak. Once it's placed on the steering wheel, it is fine, but getting to and from the steering wheel can be dodgy.Overall, a useful piece of equipment for those who do alignments, just be mindful of the weak magnet
