AutoSolo ASDCG203 digital camber and caster gauge mounted to a wheel hub showing LCD readout
AUTOSOLO / ASDCG203

Read camber and caster as a number. No bubble.

The AutoSolo ASDCG203 reads camber directly on an LCD display. Mount it on the hub, confirm the built-in level, and read the number. No bubble to interpret by eye. For caster, run the one-button 20° sweep: the LCD shows the swing, then multiply by 1.46 for true caster. The display holds your last reading after power off so you can compare before and after each suspension adjustment.

02 / Camber

Camber is the lean angle of your wheel.

Diagram explaining camber as the inward or outward tilt of the wheel viewed from the front

Camber Is the Lean Angle of Your Wheel

Camber is the tilt of your wheel inward or outward from vertical, viewed from the front of the vehicle. Most vehicles run a small amount of negative camber from factory. Camber affects tire contact and wear. Too much tilt in either direction wears the edge of the tire faster than the center.

Diagram comparing negative, zero, and positive camber and their effect on tire wear

Negative, Zero, and Positive Camber

Negative camber tilts the wheel top inward toward the vehicle. Zero is vertical. Positive tilts the top outward. Most street vehicles run slight negative camber from factory. Worn bushings or control arms shift camber out of spec. The gauge shows the current angle so you know where to adjust.

03 / Caster

Caster is the tilt of your steering axis.

Diagram showing caster as the forward or rearward tilt of the steering axis viewed from the side

Caster Is the Tilt of Your Steering Axis

Caster is the forward or rearward tilt of the steering axis, viewed from the side. Positive caster tilts the top of the axis rearward. Most modern vehicles run positive caster from factory. Caster affects straight-line tracking and how well the steering returns to center after a turn.

Diagram comparing negative, neutral, and positive caster angles and their effect on steering feel

Negative, Neutral, and Positive Caster

Positive caster is rearward tilt and is standard on most modern vehicles. It adds steering weight and return-to-center feel. Negative caster is forward tilt and reduces steering return. Neutral caster is vertical. Most factory specs call for 3 to 7 degrees of positive caster on passenger vehicles.

UNDERSTANDING CAMBER AND CASTER

The AutoSolo ASDCG203 Digital Camber and Caster Gauge measures the two suspension angles that define how the front tires sit on the road and how the steering returns to center. Camber is the inward or outward tilt of the wheel relative to vertical, viewed from the front of the vehicle. Caster is the forward or rearward tilt of the steering axis viewed from the side. The gauge mounts via strong magnets directly to cast iron wheel hubs or brake rotors, and is also compatible with the AutoSolo Wheel Clamp for rim-mounted readings on alloy wheels. Camber is read directly from the LCD as a number. Caster is measured using a sweep procedure: steer the wheel one direction, press the zero button on the gauge, then sweep the wheel back the other way. The number on the display is the caster reading. The unit holds the last reading after power off so you can compare angles before and after each suspension adjustment without writing numbers down between every step. The gauge arrives in a protective storage case for transport between jobs.

Awesome level tool.

I’ve had a couple of tiny analog level tools but wanted to upgrade to something more capable so I gave this a try. It is a great, easy to hold tool with useful features and nice touches, though it is a bit bigger than my previous tools.. First, in addition to the standard bubble level gauge, it digitally tells you how off you are in angles, percentages, millimeters, and pitch using a nicely illuminated screen. It’s really easy to use and see even when you’re contorted in awkward or dark spaces. It has a hold button so if you reach into a space that makes it hard to see the display, you can “hold” the measurement so you can then move it into visual range to see. And though I haven’t needed it yet, it even allows you to set custom reference angles with a zero button for relative comparisons.

There are a couple of nice convenience features too. The bottom has a strong magnet making it easier to securely attach it to metal, and it has a rounded groove so it sits nicely on pipes. Lastly, there are guide markings if you want to pencil marks that you can use to draw level, straight lines. I’m loving this and highly recommend it.

Product Review: Autosolo Digital Angle Level

The general sentiment surrounding this digital angle level is overwhelmingly positive, citing its high precision and excellent feature set at a competitive price point. Users find it to be a powerful upgrade over traditional bubble levels for tasks requiring exacting measurement.
Accuracy and Real-World Precision

A key takeaway from user testing is the device’s reliable accuracy. One reviewer tested the level against a known angle (a 60-degree offset) and found an apparent error of only 0.5 degrees, which they speculated was likely due to movement of the testing equipment rather than the digital level itself. This precision was sufficient to confirm its utility for high-confidence work.
Key Features and Design

The angle level is noted for combining digital functionality with reliable physical design elements:

Magnetic Base: The presence of a strong magnetic base is a highly praised feature, allowing the tool to affix securely to metal surfaces for hands-free operation in carpentry, automotive work (like wheel alignment), or other metal fabrication tasks.

Dual-Functionality: It includes a traditional torpedo bubble vial alongside the digital readout, offering versatility for quick checks and more detailed, precise angle measurements.

Illuminated Display: The tool features a nice bright illuminated screen for clear reading in various lighting conditions.

Four-Axis Measurement: The device is capable of measuring angles across all four of its axes (excluding the front or back faces), enhancing its overall usability.

Error Handling and Value

A unique functional feature noted by users is the angle level's integrated error display. If the device is tilted too far into a face-up or face-down orientation (more than 45 degrees), it will display an error instead of an unreliable reading. This is considered a valuable feature to prevent users from accidentally taking measurements in an invalid orientation.

At a price point typically under $30, users consider this angle level a strong value proposition, stacking up well against similar, slightly higher-priced models from competitors while offering a robust combination of features ideal for DIY projects and professional fine-tuning.

Makes adjusting the camber eaiser

This is very handy when trying to make changes to the race cars camber. The digital read out makes it so that I can ensure that both sides are at the same spot and cuts out a lot of the guessing. Very easy to use.

Works very well but flimsy

Very useful for auto DIY repair as well as hobbyists doing woodworking. It is, however, flimsy and I expect that if you drop it your heart will race wondering if it's going in the trash right afterwards. For something designed to be used in a garage or woodworking shop, it should really not be this flimsy.

No Instructions

Device looks good appears to be high tech but how do you use it. There is no Manual for use. I would definitely like for at least a simple explanation for use.

A camber/castor tool for the "hands on" crowd

What a compact, yet accurate little tool to check the angle of camber on a vehicle. This can be used on front or rear wheels as needed.Fairly straight forward to use, it deserves all 5 stars, and zero complaints from me.

Very cheaply made, but it works

It requires a battery, which is a pain. I'd add a star if it had a rechargeable battery. The level gauge is accurate when measured against my other gauges. I terms of use the only trick is paying attention to the arrows because it doesn't show (+) or (_) angles - only an arrow indicating to "which side" of zero you are on. This unit is compact enough to be handy for a variety of functions, but setting alignment doesn't really work for most cars because you want the car sitting on its wheels and there is usually no flat magnetic plane on a car wheel for this to attach. So if you're looking to use this as a magic alignment tool you might be disappointed.

It works

It took me a little bit to figure out how to use it, but after watching some video's and a little reading, I was able to figure it out. I had just replace both an inner and outer tie rod on my car, so it was a great time to test it out. It works well.

Great DIY Alignment Tool

I recently picked up a digital camber tool and let me tell you, it's a game-changer! This thing is compact, easy to use, and super accurate.First off, the digital display makes it a breeze to read measurements. No more squinting or trying to interpret analog gauges. Just clear, precise numbers right in front of you.The setup is simple, even for someone like me who isn't a gearhead. It locks securely onto the wheel, and you're ready to roll. Plus, its versatility means it works on various vehicles, which is a huge plus. But the real kicker? The accuracy. I've tested it against some professional-grade tools, and it holds up. Trust me; you want your camber measurements spot on, especially if you're into serious driving or just want to keep your ride in top shape.Overall, I highly recommend this digital camber tool. It's reliable, user-friendly, and gets the job done without any fuss. A must-have for any DIY mechanic or car enthusiast.

Great for keeping camber alignment when working on your front suspension.

I've had one of this thing, but with just a graded bubble scale, for more than 25 years. When I saw this one, I decided it was time to upgrade. This camber alignment tool works great. It is powered by two AAA batteries, not included. Magnet is very strong and securely sticks to any magnetic metal surface. It's very easy to operate and is more accurate than my old one by a lot. I use this type of alignment tool to keep the camber angle the same it was prior to a front end job. If I want a perfect alignment, the vehicle must go to a shop, but to keep things the way they were, this is the right tool. If I'm changing struts, ball joints, knuckles asm, etc I just zero in the actual camber angle and after performing the required job, I just make adjustments to get the zero mark again. I highly recommend this tool for any Saturday morning mechanic, a it will save you some money on the long end.

Documentation is just plain incorrect

Documentation is just plain incorrect. The product itself seems to be fine. It's easy to read and use. Cuts off too quickly in the middle of an alignment job but otherwise it seems fine. However, the instructions are just TERRIBLE! They're vague, inconsistent, and just -- wrong!
