  • The clamp mounts to the outer face of the wheel rim. Inspect the rim for damage before mounting.
  • All four locator pins must seat firmly against the rim. A loose or off-center clamp gives bad readings.
  • When you do not use a 3D alignment system, you must zero the adapter plate against the wheel hub before measuring.
  • Chock the rear wheels. Engine off. Parking brake on.

Install02

02 · Install

Mount in 6 steps.

Six moves to a square, centered clamp. Each step takes seconds. Total mount time is about 30 seconds.

00 · Handle set up

Fit the handle

Fit the handle onto the clamp and tighten its screw with the included hex key.

01 · Insert locator pins

Pins in the frame

Place the locator pins into the desired slots on the clamp frame.

02 · Adjust pins for rim fit

Pins face inward

All four pins point inward so they catch the rim’s outer edge.

03 · Set clamp width

Open wider than rim

Expand the clamp slightly wider than the rim so it drops over the edge.

04 · Position the clamp

Top pins on rim

Gently place the top locator pins over the outer edge of the rim.

05 · Align & secure

All four pins seated

Align the bottom pins and tighten until all four pins seat firmly on the rim.

06 · Ready for use

Confirm the mount

Verify the clamp does not move under hand pressure. Proceed to alignment.

6-step install02
Adapter plate · Knob peg

03 · Accessories

Mount adapter & knob peg.

The magnetic adapter plate is the surface your camber and caster gauges attach to. The knob peg is an optional attachment for the tension knob.

Mount the adapter plate

01

Loosen the thumb turn

Turn the thumb turn counter-clockwise to open the adapter socket.
02

Insert the plate

Seat the adapter plate’s shaft in the adapter socket.
03

Tighten the thumb turn

Turn the thumb turn clockwise to lock the adapter plate in place.
Tip: If the plate wobbles after the thumb turn is tight, the screw that holds the plate to its shaft may have worked loose. Tighten it.

Install the knob peg (optional)

01

Align the hex nut

Insert the knob peg into the tension knob. Line up the hex nut behind the screw hole.
02

Secure with screw

Thread the screw into the hex nut. Tighten until the knob peg is firmly attached.

Zero the adapter04

04 · Runout

Zero the adapter.

If you do not use a 3D alignment system, you must zero the adapter plate against the wheel hub. The goal is for the adapter to sit in the same plane as the hub. Tilt or misalignment puts errors into every camber and caster reading.

Adapter plane vs hub plane
01

Inflate the tire

Set tire pressure to the door-placard spec.
02

Raise the wheel

Use a jack so the wheel rotates freely.
03

Mount a digital level

Attach a digital level to the adapter plate.
04

Rotate in steps

Turn the wheel 1/8 or 1/4 of a revolution at a time. At each stop, read the digital level.
05

Adjust if the reading drifts

If the angle changes between stops, the clamp is not centered on the hub. Adjust the clamp position on the wheel.
Tip: Most drift comes from one pin not fully seated. Re-check the rim contact.
06

Confirm stable across a full rotation

When the digital level reads the same angle at every stop through a full turn, the adapter is zeroed. Runout is compensated. Proceed to camber and caster.

05 · Troubleshooting

Can’t zero it?

If the adapter does not zero, work through these in order. One of them is the cause.

Car not level on turn plates

Uneven floor or misaligned turn plates make the vehicle sit at an angle. Confirm both turn plates and the floor surface are level before starting.

Wheel bearing play

Loose or worn bearings let the wheel shift mid-rotation. Inspect, tighten, or replace before continuing.

Hub not round or flat

Hub damage or rust throws off anything mounted to it. Clean the hub and inspect for damage.

Wheel not round or square

A bent or defective rim wobbles as it rotates. Inspect the rim. Repair or replace before continuing.

Clamp not centered or evenly tightened

One pin off-center or one side over-tightened tilts the whole clamp. Re-mount with all four pins seating equally.

Gauge not mounted flat & square

A gauge that is itself out of square will read wrong. Confirm your gauge is flush against the adapter plate.

Always level the gauge on the wheel clamp before taking any measurements. A gauge that was not zeroed at the start makes every subsequent reading wrong.
