What camber tells you.
Camber: Negative, Zero, Positive
Camber is the tilt of the wheel relative to vertical, viewed from the front. Negative camber tilts the top of the wheel inward toward the car. Positive tilts it outward. Zero is true vertical. The gauge reads the angle directly from the wheel face in 1/2° increments across the full +6° to -6° range.
How Camber Angle Affects Tire Wear
Negative camber loads the inside edge of the tire. Positive camber loads the outside edge. Either extreme causes uneven wear and reduces the contact patch under braking. Most passenger vehicles run slight negative camber from the factory. Use this gauge to confirm you are back within spec after suspension work.
How caster is measured.
Why You Zero the Vial Before Measuring
Caster requires two readings, not one. Turn the steering 20° inward and zero the calibration vial using the knob on the back of the gauge. Then sweep the wheel 20° outward. The amount the bubble deflects from zero is the swing. Multiply it by 1.46 for true caster. Without zeroing first, the second reading has no reference point.
What Caster Angle Does to the Car
Caster is the forward or rearward tilt of the steering axis viewed from the side. Positive caster tilts the axis rearward. It increases straight-line stability and returnability after a turn. Negative caster reduces steering effort but destabilizes the vehicle. Most road vehicles run 3° to 8° positive caster from the factory.

El medidor magnético de camber y cáster AutoSolo ASCGAL mide los dos ángulos principales de la alineación de ruedas, los que determinan cómo apoya el neumático sobre la carretera y cómo se autocentra la dirección. Es el medidor de acceso del sistema de alineación AutoSolo. El camber es la inclinación de la rueda hacia dentro o hacia fuera respecto a la vertical, vista desde la parte delantera del vehículo. El camber negativo inclina la parte superior de la rueda hacia dentro, hacia el chasis. El camber positivo la inclina hacia fuera. El cero es la vertical real. El medidor lee el camber en incrementos de 1/2° dentro de un rango de +6° a −6° directamente sobre el nivel graduado. El cáster es el ángulo hacia delante o hacia atrás del eje de dirección visto desde el lateral del vehículo. El cáster positivo sitúa la parte superior del eje de dirección hacia atrás, hacia el conductor, y aumenta el retorno de la dirección y la estabilidad en línea recta. El cáster requiere un procedimiento de barrido en dos pasos: se gira la dirección 20° hacia dentro, se pone a cero el nivel de calibración con el mando ajustable de la parte trasera del medidor y después se barre la rueda 20° hacia fuera: la desviación de la burbuja respecto al cero es la lectura de cáster. El ASCGAL se fija con imanes potentes directamente sobre bujes de hierro fundido o discos de freno, y también es compatible con la placa adaptadora de la abrazadera de rueda AutoSolo ASWG001 para tomar lecturas desde la llanta que eliminan el error de transferencia por contacto con el disco. Sin pilas, sin aplicación y sin taller. Se entrega con un maletín rígido de transporte.
